Assigning roles and understanding permission levels 

Then Relay system is designed with functionality in mind. This means we’ve given general contractors several opportunities to maintain control while offering flexibility to the team. We understand that some features should and should not be available to all parties involved—this helps maintain the correct flow of information while all safeguarding intellectual property for all involved.

After you’ve set up an invitation to bid and are ready to collaborate within a team environment, you can assign the following roles with these built-in permission levels:

Manager – this role can: 

• Edit any information in the project, including due date and names
• Assign users area/milestone/division/project level 
• Add/edit modules 
• Upload documents 
• Assign users 
• Pull reports 
• Communicate with subs 

Contributor – this role can: 

• Input amounts into modules 
• Add line items 
• Upload documents 
• Pull reports 

Approver – this role can: 

• Award/approve/archive bids 
• View info cannot edit 
• View documents 
• View external chats
• CANNOT chat with vendors 

Project Contributor – this role can: 

• Enter variables (not create a variable) 
• Input any of the modules/bids in the project 
• Duplicate/add a line 
• Add bidders 
• Add a buff 
• Edit the module names and logos 
• Highlight all sections of a project
• Send messages to subs 
• View project/area/bid documents 
• Change the default estimate style or default bid style

Project Contributor – this role CANNOT: 

• Copy an area 
• Add tags to line items 
• Add announcements 
• Edit milestones 

Area contributor – this role can: 

• View project-wide documents and area assigned to documents 
• Add bids to assigned area 
• Input data in assigned area 
• Enter a variable (not create) 
• Duplicate/add lines in assigned area 
• Send messages to subs 

Division contributor – this role can: 

• Do all things as the area contributor but at the division-level 

Project Approver – this role can: 

• View project/area/bid attachments 
• Advance a milestone 
• Award/approve/archive any bids in a project 
• Pull project reports 

Area Approver – this role can: 

• View project level attachments 
• View area/bid attachments 
• Award/approve/archive any bids in assigned area 
• CANNOT advance a milestone 

Division Approver – this role can: 

• See project level attachments 
• See area/division/bid attachments 
• Award/approve/archive any bids in assigned division 
• CANNOT advance a milestone 

Project Manager – this role can: 

• Do every and anything in a project 

Division Manager – this role can: 

• Do every and anything in a project at the division-level 

*All milestone assignments will have the same rules as above but only for the divisions and areas where the milestone is considered active.
